B i o g r a p h y

     Candace Leigh-Anya Bogan is an elegant lyric-soprano of uncommon sensitivity and artistry.  She is a wonderful, thoughtful interpreter who uses her instrument completely in the service of the music and its listeners.

 

 Ms. Bogan's dedication to music education instruction, including but not limited to: African-American performance traditions, collegiate choral and solo vocal techniques, and basic instrument training are an inspiration to hundreds of children and youth in Southern California.  She holds a Bachelor's of Arts degree from San Diego Christian College, Master of Music degree from San Diego State University, and a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in Voice from Claremont Graduate University.  

   Most memorable operatic performances include the role of Aida with the Marina Del Rey Symphony Orchestra, title role of Madame Butterfly with the Culver City Symphony, Mimi (La Boheme) with the San Bernardino Symphony, Domna Saburova (Tsar’s Bride) with Independent Opera Los Angeles, Nedda (Pagliacci) at Central Florida Lyric Opera, and Anna Mauarrant (Street Scene) with the San Diego State University Opera Theatre.
